Holding The Day: An Election Day Contemplative Come and Go Experience
Tuesday, November 3 | 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Retreat House Spirituality Center
Come and go throughout the day
No RSVP Necessary
Election Day can hold a lot.
Hope and uncertainty. Conviction and concern. A sense of possibility. Weariness from months of noise and conversation. Whatever we carry into the day, it can be easy to find ourselves caught in the constant movement of news, predictions, opinions, and waiting.
On Election Day, Retreat House will be open from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. as a place to step away from the noise for a while and simply be present.
Holding The Day is a come-and-go contemplative experience. There is no program to attend and no particular time you need to arrive. Come for twenty minutes, an hour, or as long as you need.
Our Pilgrim's Labyrinth will be open throughout the day for anyone who would like to walk. You can also find a quiet corner of the House to pray or meditate, sit outside, journal, enjoy a cup of coffee, or simply allow yourself to slow down.
This is not a gathering around political parties, candidates, or outcomes. It is an invitation to tend to the inner life in the midst of a day that can carry a great deal of energy and emotion—and to remember our shared humanity and our connection to one another.
There is nothing you need to accomplish while you're here.
Walk. Sit. Breathe. Pray. Listen. Have a cup of coffee.
Come as you are, stay as long as you'd like, and let Retreat House help hold a little space for you as we hold the day together.
