Threshold Retreat: Winter Solstice

  • Retreat House Spirituality Center 110 Mimosa Drive Richardson, TX 75080 United States (map)

For generations, people have looked to the stars for direction, wisdom, and a sense of their place in the larger world. Across cultures and spiritual traditions, the night sky has offered stories, symbols, and reminders that even in the deepest darkness, there are points of light to guide us.

As we approach the Winter Solstice and the longest night of the year, what might the stars help us discover about our own inner lives?

Join Karen Hoffman and Sherry Ward for Stillness, a contemplative day inspired by the wisdom and wonder of the night sky. Together, we'll explore the symbolism of stars and constellations across traditions, using these images to reflect on the patterns, relationships, experiences, and intentions that give shape to our lives.

What is your North Star in this season of life? What might your personal constellation look like as you enter the winter months ahead?

Throughout the day, you'll be invited into personal reflection, guided journaling, poetry, inspirational art activities, and creative exploration. We'll also share harp meditation, nourishing food and beverages, and opportunities for quiet contemplation and meaningful connection.

Everything is offered as an invitation. You'll have space to follow your curiosity, engage the practices that speak to you, and listen for what may be emerging within.

Winter reminds us that darkness is not simply the absence of light. It can also be a place of rest, mystery, and growing clarity. As the natural world settles into its quietest season, perhaps we, too, can discover something about the inner light and wisdom that become more visible when we slow down.

Whether you're navigating a season of transition, seeking clarity about what comes next, or simply longing for a day of stillness amid the fullness of the holidays, this retreat offers a welcoming place to pause and reflect.

Come spend a day beneath the symbolism of the stars, listening for the light that might guide you into the season ahead.
