Enneagram Types & the Invitations of the Second Half of Life
There comes a point in life when the things that helped us become who we are may no longer be the things that help us become who we are becoming.
In Falling Upward, Richard Rohr describes life as having two movements. The first half is largely about building—identity, relationships, careers, beliefs, and our place in the world. The second invites different work: letting go, deepening, and discovering greater freedom in who we are.
The Enneagram offers a powerful lens for exploring this transition. Each type develops patterns that help us navigate life, belong, succeed, and protect ourselves. But eventually, those same patterns can become the places where we get stuck.
During this interactive morning workshop, we'll explore how each Enneagram type approaches the tasks of the first half of life and the particular invitations that emerge as we move toward the second.
Through teaching, conversation, guided reflection, and inquiry practice, we'll consider what our patterns have helped us build, what we may be ready to loosen our grip on, and how life's "falling" moments can become openings toward deeper wisdom and freedom.
Whether you're deeply familiar with the Enneagram or still discovering it, you're welcome.
Coffee and refreshments will be available, and you're invited to spend time walking the Retreat House labyrinth before or after our gathering.
Perhaps the question isn't simply, "What should I do next?" but "Who am I being invited to become?"
About This Workshop:
The workshop is offered both in person and online.
This workshop is not teaching the Enneagram system, rather it is a spiritual growth workshop. You don’t have to be an expert but you likely should, at a minimum, know your Enneagram type.
Facilitated by Aaron Manes: Aaron Manes is a spiritual director, teacher, and International Enneagram Association Accredited Enneagram Professional whose work integrates the Enneagram, spiritual direction, and embodied approaches to transformation.
