Wendy Habicht, trained spiritual director

Wendy was born in Denver, Colorado where she developed a love for the mountains and nature.  She moved to St. Louis and then Northern Virginia as her dad changed jobs.  Wendy attended the University of Virginia where she met the love of her life, Hank, and graduated with a BSN from the nursing school there.  She practiced nursing in the fields of pediatric cardiology and then labor and delivery before retiring to be a full-time mom for her two daughters, Jennifer and Caroline.

Over the years, Wendy found herself involved in Women’s Ministry at whatever church her family was attending as they moved around the country.  She loved shepherding women as they sought to learn more about God and themselves.  Prayer became an important part of her life when she had the opportunity to learn about healing prayer, both for herself and others.  She has been a healing prayer minister for over 20 years.  When she heard about spiritual direction a few years ago, she saw the connection to the ministries that have been so meaningful to her.  As she met with her spiritual director, Wendy discerned that she wanted to become a spiritual director to add tools to her healing prayer toolbelt.  She graduated from the SMU Perkins School of Theology Certificate in Spiritual Direction program in September 2025.

One of the best things that came out of being in spiritual direction was finding Retreat House.  She joined the RH Advisory Board in 2025 and has delighted in the many programs offered there, whether writing for the “House of” books, attending Soulful Art or Common Ground to name a few!
