Rev. Sherry Ward

Trained Spiritual Director

Rev. Sheron S. “Sherry” was born and grew up in Silver City, New Mexico.  Following graduation from Kaiser Foundation School of Nursing, she married her high school sweetheart, Phil.  As the wife of a Naval Officer, she and Phil and a growing family lived in many different places around the globe.

Sherry answered the call to ministry in 1994, four years after the death of her husband of 31 years.  She transitioned to pastoral ministry from a 35-year career in nursing when she moved to Lexington, KY. to become a full-time student at Lexington Theological Seminary.  Following her graduation in 1998 with a M.Div. and ordination into Christian Ministry in The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) she pastored churches in Jackson, TN and Fort Worth, TX, and served as a missionary in Haiti with Common Global Ministries Partner CONASPEH.

Sherry graduated from the HeartPaths Spirituality Center DFW in May 2011 as a Trained Spiritual Director.  She has two daughters, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  She enjoys contemplative photography and writes reflections, poems and prayers. She also finds joy in nurturing plants and flowers and playing with paint and color!  In her current ministry as s spiritual director and member of The Retreat House Community, she has the joy of accompanying others on their spiritual journeys.

I have been offering Spiritual Direction for 11 years.  I meet monthly, for one hour with directees via Facetime, Zoom or phone.  We are able to meet in person at The Retreat House in non Covid time.  I listen deeply as you reveal your spiritual journey and walk with you on that journey; asking clarifying questions at times and commenting when it seems helpful.  We are guided by the Holy Spirit in our time together.  In lieu of a fee, I request that donations be given to Retreat House or HeartPaths Spirituality Center.

I pass through this world but once. Any good therefore, that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
