Lee Jarrell

Trained Spiritual Director and Supervisor

Lee Jarrell is a seasoned spiritual director, guide and supervisor with 36 years of experience as an ordained pastor and supervisor for spiritual directors.

His experience with spiritual direction began in response to a mid-life crisis where he found himself needing to have knowledge of himself and God.  As Lee says, “The old way just quit working.”

Lee has been in spiritual direction since 2000 having worked with and learned from six spiritual directors during that time.  Each has provided a safe space for the Holy Spirit to bring continuous emotional and spiritual healing, transformation, growth, and lasting inner peace. As part of his work as a spiritual director and supervisor, Lee serves as a small group facilitator for the Perkins School of Theology Certificate in Spiritual Direction program at Southern Methodist University. Lee is comfortable with both virtual and in-person sessions.

Lee describes his approach to life, ministry and spiritual direction:

By providing a safe and confidential space, a spiritual director helps a directee be aware of and discern the voice of the Holy Spirit, and then supports them as they live that out in their life.

He also enlists the following when approaching his ministry:

  • I believe the Holy Spirit is the true spiritual director, healer, and redeemer of our lives.

  • I know that I am, at my best, simply a wounded healer.

  • I believe genuine heart transformation includes healing the heart, mind, soul, and body.

  • I believe a person’s transformation happens best in an atmosphere of community where the members share a safe, confidential, compassionate, ruthlessly honest, authentic, and accepting atmosphere.

  • I prefer paying attention to where the Holy Spirit is actively working, and then intentionally listening to understand how I might participate in his ongoing Kingdom work.
