Amanda Bartley

Amanda is a health & well-being professional participating in SMU’s Spiritual Direction program.

Following her father’s footsteps into banking and lending to help others with their finances is where her career started.  Her enjoyment in civic activities specifically with the City of McKinney turned her back to her high school and college love of fitness.  She took a leap of faith by switching careers into what has turned into fifteen years of non-profit, collegiate, commercial and corporate fitness.

With recent changes in our physical environment she returned to mortgage banking business development while continuing to teach group fitness and practice spiritual direction.

Amanda thrives on being outside connected with God’s creations.  She enjoys seeking the Holy Spirit’s presence in nature, movement, breath, and interpersonal relationships.

If you enjoy walking and talking with God outdoors and exploring how the Holy Spirit is leading you in your journey, she would be honored to hear your story as a Spiritual Director.

The first task of seeking guidance then is to touch your own struggles, doubts and insecurities - in short, to affirm your life as quest. Your life, my life, is given graciously by God. Our lives are not problems to be solved but journeys to be taken with Jesus as our friend and finest guide.

― Henri J.M. Nouwen, Spiritual Direction
