Nothing Is Covered Up that Will Not Be Uncovered: Matthew 10:24-39 - Cultivating Trust

by Lila Morisee

In these times, and always really, we are challenged to stand up and stand out for the truth, the real. Not the easy route, not the popular one. Not the one that allows us to "hide out" when we know heart of heart a deeper truth, when we differ with friends and family.

We are asked to cultivate a trusting in the Holy that surpasses all understanding. To stand firm in our faith in the I Am even as our knees shake threatening to buckle, and we want to deny the evidence of our lapses, when we want to give way to rampant fear and anxiety.

God never fails me when I take my messes, big and little, to prayer in surrender. My part - I have to be willing to let go of my old, unconscious, dead-end ways again and again in order to receive the scary gift of freedom that unconditional love offers me.

Thanks be to God.

Invitation
As you experience the practice of praying the lectionary, adopt a loving, caring and compassionate stance. If the end of your prayer and meditation time is not pointing to love and hope, there is more work to do. Keep wrestling. God is faithful to your journey. Love and hope will emerge. Be gentle with yourself and befriend any judgment that arises in you.
